For fund administrators

Your spreadsheet does not scale to section 6039L.

The new reporting multiplies by operating business, not by fund. A book that felt manageable last year has a different shape in 2027.

One account, whole book

Every fund you administer on a single roster, with one renewal date and one invoice.

Your branding throughout

Respondent links, reminders and statements all carry your firm, not ours.

Margin, not headcount

Collection and the asset tests run without adding a season hire to cover them.

What the new rules multiply

Count the businesses, not the funds.

Each operating business under each fund furnishes its own signed statement, and each fund is measured on two dates. The arithmetic on a mid-sized book is not close to what it was.

How it works across a book

Onboard the book once. Then it runs by itself.

Funds go in as a batch rather than one at a time. After that the only thing your team touches is the review queue.

1

Load the book

Import every fund and the businesses beneath each one, in a batch rather than a form at a time.

Your team · One onboarding
2

Links go out under your name

Each respondent across every fund gets a scoped request carrying your firm's branding.

Your team · Name the contacts
3

Collection and tests run

Reminders chase every respondent and both asset tests compute on their dates, fund by fund.

Your team · Nothing
4

Packages queue for review

Finished Form 8996 workpapers arrive per fund, indexed, with only the exceptions flagged.

One onboarding covers the whole book

Two ways to run it

Under your name, or under ours.

The compliance work is the same in both. What changes is whose brand the sponsor sees and who answers the phone.

We never approach a sponsor you administer, in either mode, about anything other than the funds you brought.

The exposure across a book

One missed statement is one penalty per entity, not per book.

Penalties attach to whichever entity failed to file. Across forty funds and their businesses, a single process gap is not a single problem, and the sponsor will ask who was administering it.

Exceptions surface, not everything

The roster shows only the funds asking something of you. Silence on a row means it is handled.

Substantiation held per fund

Source document, named respondent and timestamp against every figure, retained past the engagement.

Building this is not your business

The rules move. Notices, draft forms and thresholds are ours to track, not another roadmap item for your team.

Talk about the book

Neither the taxpayers nor their accountants knew Form 8996 existed.

Bring the book. We will size it on the call.

Tell us how many funds and roughly how many businesses sit beneath them, and the licence maths takes about twenty minutes.
